Beam Partners with Operation Homefront in Fourth Annual Holiday Meals Program

Beam Inc. (NYSE: BEAM), a leading global premium spirits company, will provide 5,200 holiday meals to military service members and their families at 17 bases nationwide this month through its continued partnership with Operation Homefront in the annual Holiday Meals for Military program.

Beam, and its flagship Bourbon brand, Jim Beam, founded the Holiday Meals for Military Program in Thanksgiving 2009 as a result of a chance encounter in a supermarket in Utica, N.Y., near Fort Drum. A soldier, his wife, and infant had a handful of Thanksgiving grocery items they could not afford, so a Beam employee picked up the $12 cost for the groceries. Since that time, the program has grown from initially providing 500 meal kits to military families in 2009 to providing 5,200 this holiday season.
 
In a series of giveaway events this month, Beam, Operation Homefront and key sponsors will distribute meal kits to military families at 17 bases nationwide, including Fort Campbell and Fort Knox in Kentucky, where Beam produces more than 60% of its volume; Great Lakes Naval Base, near Chicago and close to Beam’s global headquarters; and several other large military communities. In addition to helping secure sponsors and volunteers for each of the events, Beam will donate $50,000 to the cost of the meal kits, which include all the grocery items necessary for a full holiday meal and much more.

Since 2008, Jim Beam, the number one selling Bourbon in the world, has worked closely with Operation Homefront, an organization that provides emergency financial aid and other assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors. To date, Beam has donated $2.5M million to Operation Homefront through a variety of charitable programming efforts.
