NJRA is partnering with Diversity Business Communications and sponsoring the Tri-State Food Show, October 1st & 2nd at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus. If you are interested in exhibiting or attending, visit tri-statefoodexpo.com. Exhibit space starts as low at $800, with no additional fees. There will be many education sessions and culinary demonstrations for attendees.
The NJRA continues to represent you in both the State Legislature and Congress. Some of the legislation we continue to monitor involves: minimum wage, GMO, paid sick leave, ban the box, wage reporting, immigration, etc. Because there is constant change with the Affordable Health Care Act, we want to keep you informed. Since NJRA membership entitles you to membership with the National Restaurant Association as well, we are now able to offer members a downloadable booklet on entitled Health Care Law Primer.
I’m happy to announce some more new member benefits that we have just added. NJRA members can now receive discounts on small business loans through our preferred partner On Deck Capital. On Deck is committed to changing the way restaurants get the capital they need to grow and are offering 1 percentage point off the total cost of the loan as an exclusive NJRA Member Discount.
We are also happy to announce the release of the ServSafe Allergens course, designed to help both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house staff better accommodate the growing number of guests with food allergies. A 10% discount off the Online Training Course is available to NJRA members by using code ALLERGEN and visiting: http://www.servsafe.com/ss/catalog/productDetail.aspx?ID=1937
We also offer a new product, ServSafe Food Handler Guide, targeted to non-managers for proper food handling. This book is offered in English, Spanish and Chinese; the cost per book is $6.00 and includes shipping.
Are you aware of the new mandate that takes effect on January 2nd, 2015? All Risk 3 Establishments will be required to have one person per shift ServSafe certified. Fortunately, the NJRA has secured a grant for this training! This grant is designed to increase the productivity and skills of New Jersey’s workers and assist businesses to better compete in the global economy.
Grants like these allow us to offer our approved members FREE SERVSAFE CLASSES! These classes are taught in English and Spanish. I can’t encourage you enough to take advantage of this great member benefit we are able to offer you. A list of current classes can be found at NJRA.org under Calendar and Seminars.
