The free mobile app from Seagram’s Gin, Ginsider, is available now to iPhone and Android users. Scanning Seagram’s Peach and Pineapple Twisted bottles reveals exclusive video on how to make signature Seagram’s Gin cocktails. The app’s fresh content “will ultimately drive consumers to retail outlets where they can purchase Seagram’s Gin products,” notes Brand Manager Jennifer Pierdant.

NEWCASTLE INTRODUCES SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CAMPAIGN WITH NEW RELEASE

This month, to support the launch of Newcastle Cabbie Black Ale, the brand has teamed with Taxi Magic, a mobile-based service to find safe rides home. Where Taxi Magic is available, Newcastle Cabbie POS features a code to download the app to a smartphone and receive a $5 credit reward from Newcastle. Where the app is unavailable, other POS will promote a text-in program inviting consumers to text a short code for a chance to win free cab rides home for one year. Newcastle Cabbie has 4.2% ABV and notes of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Priced comparably to Newcastle Brown Ale, Newcastle Cabbie is available November 2013 through January 2014 in 6- and 12-packs at retail and draught format for bars in most major markets.

DELECTABLE, LIKE INSTAGRAM FOR WINE

There have been wine apps before that promise to help people catalog what they are drinking. But Delectable may have something special up its sleeve. The iPhone app seeks to create community, bringing consumers and industry professionals together. Delectable already has serious fans like Alder Yarrow and Jordan Mackay and top sommeliers using the app, providing a base of influencers for consumers to follow. Users can take a picture of a bottle and the app then identifies the wine’s basic data, which can then be shared, with an option to tag other users and take notes for future reference. In October, Delectable and VinTank joined in partnership that allows the app to create a deeper social media connection between wineries and self-selected wine enthusiasts using Delectable. Android users, don’t fret: Droid-compatible version is slated for early 2014.

BANFI GOES CRAZY FOR CHIANTI

Aiming to entice new converts to the pleasures of Chianti, Banfi Vintners has created an interactive site to help millenials find their perfect Chianti. The site offers a quiz, as well as educational components for people to learn more about the Italian wine region, grapes and history in a fun way. There’s another angle to the site: positioning Chianti as a red blend, not just a Tuscan wine. Banfi Chianti brands include Banfi, Bolla, Bell’Agio, Cecchi, Placido and Villa Cerna.

ONE MILLION THUMBS UP FOR ARBOR MIST

Constellation Brands recently scored a social media milestone for popular Arbor Mist wine-with-fruit. The brand reached one million Facebook fans, which is a first for a wine brand according to social media analytics platform Socialbakers.
