On August 18th, Bombay Sapphire held the regional “Most imaginative Bartender” competition at The Diamond Horseshoe at the Paramount Hotel. Vincenzo Cangemi of Ovest Pizzoteca and Bar was selected as the new York finalist for his Elisir d’Amore cocktail. Cangemi was one of 39 top mixologists from across the country competing in the national finals in Las Vegas. Ran Duan of Boston took the national prize.
1.75 oz. Bombay Sapphire
0.5 oz. Solerno blood orange Liquor
0.75 oz. reduction of fresh Camomille flowers & Ginger beer
0.5 oz. lemon juice
6-7 yellow Endive leaves
1 bar spoon coriander seeds
Pour into a shaker .5 oz of lemon juice a bar spoon of coriander and .75 oz of reduction, muddle it until breaks the seeds, then add 7 leaves of yellow endive and muddle them over the coriander seeds already opened. Then pour 1.75oz of Bombay Sapphire, and .5 oz of Solerno to complete. Now shake and double strain into a coupette. Garnish with endive, reduction, orange wheel, and coriander.
