BERINGER DIGS INTO PASO ROBLES FOR ‘THE WAYMAKER’

In adding “The Waymaker” Paso Robles red blend to its Regional Estates tier, Beringer Vineyards casts a stylish hat into the still-expanding red blend ring. Full-bodied and juicy, the inaugural 2012 is 57% Syrah and 37% Cabernet Sauvignon with touches of Petite Sirah and Malbec. It offers blue fruit, floral and dusty aromatics; plum and blueberry flavors with hints of bacon; and a mouthwatering finish.

WHO NEEDS BARRELS? WOODWORK BRINGS NEW TWIST

The latest wine from Diageo Chateau & Estates Wines features a bold point of distinction. The brand Woodwork celebrates the craft of winemaking, with a refreshing dose of authenticity. Rob Mondavi Jr., along with his father, Michael Mondavi and sister, Dina Mondavi, have released “Animo.” From a rugged Atlas Peak vineyard named by Dina for the site’s animo—the Italian word for spirit—the 2010 is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Petit Verdot, aged 20 months in 87% new French oak. PEAT LOVER’S SCOTCH BOTTLINGS ARRIVE STATESIDE

The Scottish Knockdhu Distillery, known for the fertile turf on which it was built, is embracing its peaty identity; anCnoc (pronounced a-NOCK), a single malt produced by the distillery, is releasing a Limited Edition Peaty Collection.
