Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival caps another successful year
For the seventh year, the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival brought some of the world’s most notable chefs, winemakers, television food per-sonalities and fans together for a week-end jam-packed with top-notch food and drink-focused parties, seminars and tasting events, October 16th-19th.
As in years past, Friday offered a trade-only day of the flagship Grand Tasting, held at Pier 94. The Southern Wine & Spirits Trade Day Grand Tasting presented by Beverage Media catered to 6,800 people—the event’s largest attendance to date. Matt Munn, senior vice president and general manager at Southern Wine & Spirits of New York, said, “The generosity of all the participating wine and spirits suppliers and their brands, combined with the work of our fantastic festival team made 2014’s festival the best yet.”
The Boutique Spirits Collection Room and the Wine GEMS Collection Room proved to be popular tasting areas featuring rare and limited-edition offerings from the Southern Wine & Spirits and Lauber Imports portfolios.
Trade Day attendees also sampled wine and spirits offerings new to the show, including Epica Malbec, Kibo Junmai from SakeOne, Casamigos Añejo Tequila, Rosatello wines, Casa Noble Tequila, Ole Smoky Moonshine and New York Distilling Company’s Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye.
Rosalinda Secondini, director of special events at Southern Wine & Spirits, said, “Many thanks go to all of our sponsors, who ensure that Trade Day, like every other festival event, is the best it can be. I’m proud to say that we raised over $1 million this year for charitable causes.
”Beverage Media CEO Jason Glasser said, “Beverage Media is proud to be an integral part of NYC Wine & Food Festival which shines a bright light on our industry and the amazing things we do to impact our community.”
All net proceeds go to the No Kid Hungry campaign and the Food Bank for New York City.
