Napa-based Quintessential is bringing to the U.S. a new Barbera d’Asti label from Piedmont producer Luca Bosio. Called Leda, The Truffle Hunter, it was created to honor a special dog owned by Luca’s father, Valter Bosio. Leda is a Lagotto Romagnolo, a breed known to be superior truffle hunters. The fine Barbera inside the bottle is produced from vineyards in the heart of the Langhe.
GUINNESS ADDS LIMITED EDITION ‘THE 1759’ AMBER ALE
Guinness The 1759, a limited edition ultra-premium amber ale, combines the famous Guinness yeast with both traditional beer malt and peated whisky malt—the very same used in the Scotch and Irish whiskies. Heaven Hill Distilleries has released the eighth edition of the Parker’s Heritage Collection series. This year, for the fi rst time, Heaven Hill will be using a whiskey style other than bourbon. The 13-year-old straight wheat whiskey, bottled at cask strength (127.4 proof) and non-chill fi ltered, comes from the very fi rst run of what later would become Bernheim Original Straight Wheat Whiskey; $5 per bottle will be donated to ALS research, honoring Heaven Hill Master Distiller Emeritus Parker Beam.

Delicato Family Vineyards (DFV) has launched Juxtapoz 2012, a new luxury red wine blend. The grape mix, 76% from Napa Valley, features a broad array: Syrah, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The original label art, by Barcelona native Gabriel Moreno, complements winemaker John Killebrew’s approach to achieving depth and texture in the wine by juxtaposing two views of one woman.
