Local NJLSA: Tee It Up!

The 5th Annual NJLSA-PAC Golf Outing was not only a great time, but also a big success for helping raise much needed financial support for our legislative PAC fund. The weather cooperated and the event was SOLD OUT for the third consecutive year!

Sunny Patel was just awarded the Brown-Forman Retailer of the Year for the off-premise sector in New Jersey at the Annual Conference of the American Beverage Licenses (ABL) held in Washington, DC in June.

Sunny, who is the owner of Sunny’s Liquors in Passaic, has genuinely dedicated the last  two decades of his life to our industry while operating his store and traveling all over the state promoting the NJLSA mission to protect and defend our State’s off-premise licensees. Please join me in congratulating Sunny on his national recognition!


Hundreds of retailers and alcohol industry insiders from across our nation including several from the Garden State participated in the annual American Beverage Licenses (ABL) Conference. The big announcement: ABL, along with Wine & Spirit Wholesalers of America and the President’s Forum, formed an alliance across all three tiers of our industry to create the first bi-partisan “Congressional Hospitality Caucus,” which will provide a forum in which members of Congress can explore issues facing beverage alcohol retailers. The alliance is expected to expand with additional support from industry partners from all three tiers. Clearly, competitive issues ranging from private labels to license limit challenges are taking their toll on all three market tiers, and we have “all” finally found some common ground to share.

There is no doubt in my mind that if there was ever a time for retailers to come together in our industry’s retail sector—that time is now!
