“We have been thinking about creating a strong moment around Bordeaux wines for a long time,” says Eric Dubourg, a young importer who originates from the region and who co-imagined the format of this event with long time friend and wine industry partner Louis Kressmann, of the famous Bordelais family. “We felt there really was a lack of presence and grand occasion open to the public in this country and as two Bordelais, we decided to take matters into our own hands” he adds. “BurdiGala stemmed in our mind when we realized that all other regions were very active in the country but Bordeaux lacked a focal point besides the en Primeur campaign which determines the price at which Bordeaux wines will be sold” says Kressmann. “I want to make Bordeaux sexy again!” he adds enthusiastically.
The day will consist of an afternoon walk around tasting at Café St. Bart with 12 top Bordeaux producers showcasing three vintages of their top wine and a dinner hosted by chef Alain Ducasse prepared by Bistro Benoit New York’s executive chef Philippe Bertineau.
