Diageo sponsors
USBG World Class
This past November, World’s Best
Bartender premiered on the Travel
Channel, giving TV viewers front-
row access to USBG World Class,
the international cocktail program
showcasing top bartenders from 39
countries, including 2012 U.S. win-
ner Ricky Gomez. Diageo will again
sponsor the World Class program in
2013, in search of the nation’s top
bartending talent.
Mixologists can register online
at DiageoWorldClassUSA.com and
then complete three World Class
training modules, authored by lead-
ing spirits journalist Camper Eng-
lish, and score 80 percent or higher
on each test. Then, they must submit
an original cocktail recipe and photo
featuring one of the Diageo Reserve
brands, including Ketel One Vodka,
Cîroc Vodka, Tanqueray No. 10
Gin, Zacapa Rum BulleitBourbon,
Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch
and Don Julio Tequila. Lastly, reg-
istrants must upload a video show-
casing their passion and affinity for
the industry.
In effort to make the entry pro-
cess easier, World Class U.S. has
created an iPhone app allowing
registrants to complete the training
modules and upload a photo and vid-
eo directly from their smart phones.
Additionally, World Class U.S. Am-
bassador Ricky Gomez and Tanquer-
ay Global Ambassador Angus Win-
chester will host training seminars to
spread awareness about the program.
Their schedule will be available on
the website and app.
Registration for the program offi-
cially closes on April 30th, 2013, and
20 finalists will be announced during
the Manhattan Cocktail Classic in
May. The finalists will face-off in New
York City at the USBG &World Class
U.S. Finale in June.

Ceretto names Winebow
as its U.S. Importer
Ceretto, a family winery that pro-
duces wines from four estates in
Italy’s Piedmont region, has selected
New Jersey-based Winebow as the
sole importer of its wines in the U.S.
Winebow founder and chairman
Leonardo LoCascio said, “Through-
out their family generations, the
Ceretto family has earned reputa-
tion for producing wines from the
Piedmont region through traditional
practices and innovation.” Ceretto is
best known for multiple bottlings of
Barolo and Barbaresco. Winebow’s
Italian portfolio comprises over 50
wineries throughout Italy.

ment of a Hungarian portfolio with
two new partnerships: Tokaji Hetszo-

Hungary’s wine industry following
the collapse of Communism. DSWE

national distributor for both lines,
and is the first importer to offer Ist-
van Szepsy’s full range in the U.S.
