SLA RULES AGAINST
SHIPCOMPLIANT
Following up on the special full board
meeting on January 17
th
, the New York
State Liquor Authority’s on April 9
th
is-
sued a ruling that the direct sales system
used by ShipCompliant is in fact not le-
gal in New York State. In denying that
request, the SLA explained that Ship-
Compliant’s original Request for a ruling
provided an inaccurate description of the
actual relations among the business asso-
ciates involved in their system. Based on
examples characterized as “legion,” the
Authority found that ShipCompliant’s
business model placed the licensed sell-
ers in a passive role, and therefore did not
comply with state laws.
