SKY RANCH FOUNDATION
ANNOUNCES NEW GRANTS
Sky Ranch Foundation, a charitable
organization with extensive industry
ties, recently approved seven grants
totaling $184,000 to help support a va-
riety of organizations that help at-risk
youth in multiple states.
Founded in 1961 by small business
owners in the wine, beer and spirits
industry, the Sky Ranch Foundation
originally purchased the land and built
the buildings used by Sky Ranch for
Boys, a residential treatment center.
Still a fully recognized charitable orga-
nization, the Foundation’s work con-
tinues to focus on youths with special
needs, but through direct assistance –
and monetary grants.
The Foundation’s executive com-
mittee recently met in Chicago to
approve a set of grants for 2012-2013.
Among the recipients is Boys’ and
Girls’ Towns of Italy in New York City,
a nonprofit organization that provides
funding support to two self-governing
residential communities founded 67
years ago to support the large popula-
tion of homeless and orphaned chil-
dren in Italy. This grant helped to
provide general educational and emo-
tional support to the at-risk young
people living in the Towns. Another
NYC recipient, Red Hook Initiative
in Brooklyn, provides a continuum
of developmentally appropriate pro-
grams for youths aged 10-24, to help
them become leaders, build resiliency
and develop a positive sense of self
and future. This Sky Ranch grant
was especially vital as Red Hook was
among the neighborhoods hit hardest
by Superstorm Sandy.
Other programs receiving fund-
ing for 2012-2013 include: Siouxland
Human Investment Partnership in
Sioux City, IA; Voices for Children of
North Central Florida; McCrossan’s
Boys Ranch in Sioux Falls, SD; Pa-
cific Lodge Boys Home in Woodland
Hills, CA; and Trinity Bible College
in Ellendale ND.
