ultimate beverage challenge
2012
guide to the world’s BEST SPIRITS, COCKTAILS &WINE
W
e all know the sinking feeling of walk-
ing into a wine merchant and being
confronted with hundreds, often thousands
of wine choices. The world of wine is the
most complex of all beverage alcohol seg-
ments in terms of the number of wine prod-
ucts available and the wide variety from
many regions in many countries.
Ultimate Wine Challenge exists to cut
through the rhetoric, the advertising and
the clutter so astute buying choices can
be made by anyone, no matter their level
of wine acumen.
Ultimate Wine Challenge occurs once
each year when the world’s leading author-
ities, including Masters of Wine, somme-
liers, authors and journalists, come
together to methodically assess the
latest releases of wines from around
the world. Using New York City’s
ideal setting, Astor Center, Ultimate
Wine Challenge judges painstakingly
examine hundreds of wines to assess their
quality and price/value ratios. Multiple
panels sample each wine entry to gain an
accurate and fair evaluation.
This collection of data, with easy-to-un-
derstand scores on the 100-point scale and
tasting notes, provides for consumers
all the pertinent information they
require to make informed and
money-saving wine selections in
wine stores. Gone are the days
of wine intimidation. Gone are the
days of fumbling yourway through aisles
of wines without knowing where to begin.
Ultimate Wine Challenge takes the
mystery and anguish out of buying wine
by supplying everyone with the most
accurate results available today.
